Default Dpf replacement, can i do it myself?

HI ALL. Bought first diesel truck in 08 with 6.7. recently dealer did ECM FLASH for recall and now the console does not let me know when DPF is at 80% but just registered 100%. Was wondering if this is common and also if I can replace DPF myself and if so where is it located? Also it is an 07 with 6 speed manual trans. Thanks All.

Hello DAMAGEINC,

Welcome aboard.

Yes you can replace it yourself, not difficult at all except expensive. There has been some issues with ECM flash version and in one of the updates, there was a correction for this (if I remember correctly). This is covered by warranty and dealer should replace it/service it at no cost.

If its registering 100% full, you will not be able to take it out on the highway for an hour or so to self clean because it will drop into limp mode. You can take it off and using compressed air, blow it clean. However if you do that, but a filter sack of some sort on the reverse end because LOTS of black soot will come flying out. That will not clean it 100% percent but enough to the ECM to read a lower differential pressure so you can get on the highway for an hour or two and do a full regen.

Hope that helps.

Cheers.

Thanks Morbius for quick response. Will call dealer first and if need to will do the compressed air and run on HWY to regen. Also did download on your egr and cooler cleaning, that will come in handy I am sure. Thanks again
