Red face Change

So here i am on this awsome informative site and felt that I needed to come clean. I am a die hard Chevy/GMC fanatic that would never buy anything else....Untill a couple weeks ago when I bought my first Dodge Ram with the Cummins 6.7 Power House. Friends are giving me crap about the change till i take them on a test drive in mine then theirs. The reason for the switch for me is simple, Dodge trucks are built solid and cummins builds solid engines. My last two GMC's were nice trucks that I loved alot. Problem is that the power train makes weird noises and the dealer tells me this is normal... Both trucks did this. That to me is not solid. If GM wants some help to stay in business they should start with building the trucks that they used to build. My rearend blew on my 02 at 50,000 miles and the tranny on my 06 is slipping at 38,000 and I only pull a boat that weighs 7000 pounds loaded.
I work in the oil patch and we drive the Ford's with the not so powerstroke. I know these suck because I drive one daily... unless it's in the shop.
So, I got that out and I feel like I just went to confessional.
I LOVE my new Dodge......

Man do I know what You mean . We also have the less than Powerstroke in our trucks at work. After a lot of looking around the Dodge is the only one for alot of us.

I did alot of soul searching trying to decide between Dodge and GM. I look at both their trucks and not the price and found it was a no brainer... Plus the dodge was cheaper for the same options!

I can sing with the Choir on this. I'm not a Dodge fanatic, as a matter of fact I'm not brand loyal to anything except my Harley's and Ducati's (Love that thump). I looked, researched and talk to truck owners the whole summer of 07 before buying my truck. When it comes to these big beast it's all about the powertrain and there's no arguing that Allison is famous for reliability in the Heavy Duty market but after my research was done the Cummins 6.7L mated to the 68RFE 6 speed auto won hands down with Ford not even in the running (Bed steps won't get you home.LOL).

I'm getting ready to go over 50,000 miles and I'll be the first to admit that there were a couple of days when I wondered if I had screwed the pooch by not getting the 5.9L Cummins rather then the 6.7L, but not now.............and yeah I get crap from those misinformed souls but it only takes a drive to watch that smile fade away and the head scratching begin.

Welcome to the fold!
I've never been a GM fan, like many of my friends are. One of them is a truck mechanic specializing in Duramax power trains. Every time that I have been in his shop for the last several years, there has been a Duramax and /or an Allison apart with major problems and showing major wear.
It never was a decision for me, I have been a loyal Dodge truck and Chrysler fan for more than 25 years. I have owned more than 15 Mopar trucks, cars, vans and Jeeps, all from the same dealer. Many of them I have put upwards of 500,000 kms on, with no serious problems. So when I decided that it I needed a bigger tow vehicle than my 5.9L Grand Cherokee, there was no contest. It was to be a Dodge Cummins.
My truck was purchased new, in January of '08. It is an '07 2500 QC SLT TRX4 Offroad 4x4. Presently the clock is at almost 44,000 kms. There have been no problems. And I'm glad that I went with the 6.7.
Just for interest, my fleet presently includes a '65 Dodge Polara Convertible, a '98 Jeep Cherokee, a '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Cummins truck.
