Default The 6.7 Blues......

Newbie here.....sure wish I would have done a little more research before I bought my 2008 2500 6.7. I am tired of putting the truck in the shop, thinking it might be time to trade it off.

So P2262-turbocharger Boost Pressure Not Detected - Mechanical

So first thing I would do is to remove the boost sensor and make sure the hole in the manifold is clear, not obstructing it. Second thing I would do is check the boost sensor to make sure its hole is not obstructed and nothing got pushed up into it. Unless the turbo is seized which can be verified by removing the intake tube and spinning it by hand (should be very little resistance), its a faulty sensor and/or connection.

How does the truck perform when the error comes up ? Does it feel really slow ? When you step on it, do you hear a whine from the turbo ? Pure diesel with no turbo is slow and can not accelerate well.

Hang in there. Most problems are sensor related, the engine/drivetrain is very solid. I have a 2008 3500 dually and had tons of problems with the tires constantly loosing air, going flat at freeway speeds and the original dealer refused to help and could not find the problems. Brought to a BIG-O shop I dealt with for many years and had it all fixed in 1 hour and never had a problem again. Turned out that there was a national recall on defective valve stems, dealer did not want to deal with it ...... If your dealer is not able to resolve the problem, then their mechanic is not that good and go to another. Sounds like they are not able to reproduce it and not putting much effort into it.

BTW, before I purchased our truck, spent lots of time researching all the available options. Glad I went with dodge and 2008 model. I rather deal with DPF issues than all the other problems everyone else is having with other Make/Models.

Cheers.

I had my truck in two times when I first bought it once they just clean the EGR the second time they replaced the valve and accuator not had a problem in 50,000 miles. I would not trade my truck in. I pull 14,000 lbs. at least every other month.

My 2008 has been flawless other than a bad tie rod ends at 500K I had them replaced with Moog greasable. The 6.7 is awesome don't let them idle for long periods no more than a couple of minutes and use the exhaust brake all the time. Just went to yellowstone from Canada and back 11.7 liters per 100 k or 3.1 us gallons per 62 miles
ran at 120 k or 80 miles per on average. I changed from a Chev with the 5.7 and it never did better than 16 liters per 100K . If you continue to have problems try a different dealer some times they don't want to repair what broken. Plain and simple I love this truck it has been awesome.

I traded in my 97, twelve valve in may of 09 on a new reg cab, 6.7L. 6spd manual with 342gears. I do nt move this truck without engageing the exhaust brake. keeps the turbo vanes in shape and no brake dust on the rims. Iam a extrucker turned forester, driving this animal is like bobtailing a big rig, fast and powerfull. I pull a 10,000lb dumptrailer a few times a month usually grossing over 18,500lbs, she handels any thing I need her to do. Shes also our steppen out when we need to look good mode of trasportation. 13600 on the odometor and no issues whatsoever, except the draglink recall and the EGR recall witch actually boosted performance. 17.5-18mpg on north central Pa. 2 lane mountainass roads, 22+ on highy trips. It seems from reading some of the forums that they got the bugs worked out in the later 6.7 models. Keepon Trucken in style. J.Engel

I just bought a 08 with 30k miles, and so far I have to say it's a damn good truck. Don't really have much plans on pulling anything but like the gas mileage and dependability. Should I take it to the dealer and have them update the flash? And will putting a 2" leveling kit void factory warranty?
