Default EGR Upgrade

Ok so I'm looking around in Diesel Power and find that Sinister diesel has an upgraded EGR. Any thoughts or know anyone running one. Worth it? Not? Just curious.

For $700 dollars not worth it it my eyes putting exhaust back through the engine is never a good idea their product looks like it will flow better than stock meaning more soot and exhaust go through the engine which means your gonna need more fuel and air to offset the soot and exhaust to burn correctly

You are better off getting another cooler from ebay for 100.00 like I did and keep it on hand washed ready for quick switch.

You do not want to cooler to be free following, you need the gases to spend a certain amount of time cooling down before hitting the intake. There has been some tests of this and some reports showing it does not help and causes more regens which means lower mileage.

An option (which is what I have done) is to purchase Cummins DPF additive to mix in a each full tank refill, it cut my regens by almost 50% which in turn increased mileage, works great !

I was never thinking of getting one as what you described makes perfect sense. Where do you purchase the Cummins DPF additive and what is it called. Great info thanks!

Here is a pic of the jug:

Be very careful when handling it, very toxic and will drop you rather quickly if handled wrong. Got it from Cummins West Center in our local area. It should be available from any Cummins Center. Its not cheap, however found it to be very effective.

Hope that helps.

How much is it and I would assume you bought it at a cummins dealer? Do you know if they have it in smaller containers...Thanks

Yes, that is correct. If I remember correctly, it was 200.00 and that was the smallest container. I purchased a small pile of aluminum bottles at the right mix ratio and keep them in the bed ready to pour in.
