If you're wondering how to get rid of the oil change warning on the overhead Annunciator all you have to do is turn the key on, press the accelerator pedal to the floor 3 times and then turn the key off and the warning should be gone.

Just got a DVD from Cummins/DC that the warning is based on Duty Cycle or how ande where you drive your truck.

My first oil change light came on at 4,750 miles. Not bad, I wasn't going to go much further on my first change anyway.

It's kind of funny though, that DVD would lead you to believe the ECM is all powerful and capable of tracking your every movement.

Ah yes! a method in their madness for sure.

My change oil light comes on about every 400 miles at least. Dealer tells me nothing is wrong and to change my oil. Last week I changed my oil for the fourth time with 8500 miles on my rig and the light came on this week after driving about 100 miles. Something is obviously wrong. Anybody have the same problem and find a fix? I just keep resetting it but, I would love to rely on it if it worked. Thank-you.

I'd find a different service department because that's not right unless you meant 4000 miles rather then 400. What year is your truck and have you had all the reflashes done like the G30 and PCM? I ask because since I had those two done I don't see the warning as often and when I do change the oil it doesn't smell like diesel the way it use to which is a sign of a rich running truck.

I will try a different dealer. Yes, the light comes on at least every 400 miles. I did have one flash upgrade and I recently received a recall notice for my O2 sensorso when I go in I will make sure everything is up to date . The truck is a 2007. I love it love it love it except for this little bug and a bug that shifts me almost into redline when coasting downgrade when I am in tow/haul mode towing my orange friend...sadly I only have one...so I count you a lucky man! although I am getting a dozer next week so am pretty excited! have a good one! -C

The other thing we're dealing with here are the piston rings and blowby during the break in period. These rings are brand a new diameter and a new manufacturing process. The 07's, I will bet, are not the same manufacturing process and/or design. I was involved in the manufacture of piston rings for 25 years and the last 7 was with Cummins Engine Company. Like anything else, we are dealing with systems (mechanical and electrical) that produce a result...Damn, I'm boring...Sorry
