Default 6.7L 67,000 Mile EGR Cleaning Kit P/N's

After 3 weeks of waiting I finally got my6.7L Cummins EGR Cleaning Kit and the first thing I did was contact Geno's Garage about getting us a kit for a lot less then what I paid.

The following are the P/N's and Prices that make up the EGR Cleaning Kit.

Gasket P/N 68005464AA (2 needed) $11.00
Gasket P/N 68038089AA (1 needed) $29.99
Gasket P/N 68005184AA (2 needed) $10.50
Cleaner P/n 68028729AA (2 needed) $50.00

They also included the Breather Filter in the Kit P/N 68002433AB for $101.75, Ouch!

So with shipping the total came to $214.19

I think the folks at Geno's will be able to beat that price and I'll let you know when I hear anything.

My truck lit the check engine light 4 days ago....P042E EGR valve stuck open. I removed the EGR valve/solenoid and cleaned the plunger with carb cleaner. I also cleaned the cylinder that it pushes into. It wasn't terribly dirty but I did notice the plunger was out and it pushed back into place as I was wiping it down. Afterwards I went to Autozone and had them clear the code. It's been 4 days and no check engine light, so I assume that fixed it. There was only 1 metal gasket which I reused. Where do the other gaskets go?

OK, I jumped the gun. The check engine engine light came on again for the P042E code. Back to the dealership......

I'm interested also in how often the EGR valve should be cleaned and to what extent.

The manual says the EGR valve should be cleaned at around 67,000 miles and you actually disassemble it thus all the gaskets. I also got an Email From Geno's and they are putting together a EGR Cleaning Kit at a substantial savings over the dealership.

Default Too much to read, this is great!

You ask why I haven't posted any thing in three weeks.
When ever I log on I find so much good stuff to read I don't have time to post a note.

I think it's just like the CCV and fuel filter and considered maintenance.
