Default Tsb 18-035-08 New Oxygen Sensors

This is the TSB that notrader just had done and if you'll read it you'll notice they check the CCV filter and now have new oxygen sensors so maybe if I get these I won't have to clean mine all the time.

SUBJECT:
MIL Illumination Due to P2000, P2A00 and/or P2A01
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves verifying all TSB's related to high sooting issues have been properly
addressed, replacing both Oxygen (O2) Sensors, and wrapping the exhaust pipe in the
area of the FRONT O2 sensor.
This bulletin also involves verifying that the Documentation Kit has been installed in the
vehicle and the customer has been informed of its contents.
MODELS:
2007 - 2008 (DH/D1) Ram Truck 2500/3500
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 6.7L Cummins diesel engine
(sales code ETJ).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Customer may experience MIL illumination. Further investigation by the technician may
find one or more of the following DTC(s) present:

·
P2000 - NOX Absorber Efficiency Below Threshold - Bank 1.
·

P2A00 - O2 Sensor 1/1 Circuit Performance.
·

P2A01 - O2 Sensor 1/2 Circuit Performance.
DIAGNOSIS:
If DTC's

other than those listed above are present record them on the repair order and
repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin. Refer to TSB's related to
turbocharger and DPF repairs (11-002-07, 11-001-08, 11-002-08 and 18-013-08) if
needed.

NOTE: ECM (PCM) software commands when and what the CCN will display on the
EVIC regarding the new engine system and exhaust aftertreatment system
messages. The ECM software must be up to date (correct software level) in
order for the new EVIC messages to display as designed and to address the
symptoms and conditions above.
·

Verify software level in ECM and CCN is at the latest software level available in
DealerCONNECT.
·

Verify DTC's other than those listed in the SYMPTOM/CONDITION should be
addressed with the appropriate TSB or Service Procedures available in
DealerCONNECT.
·

IF making a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) or turbocharger repair in conjunction with
this TSB, ensure EGR system, Turbo, Intake, Charge Air Cooler, and other sensors
are inspected and cleaned as described in these TSB's. Systems should be cleaned
to “Like New” condition. Vehicles that have excess soot build up should have the
source of the soot build up diagnosed and repaired prior to proceeding with this
bulletin.
·

Verify proper maintenance has been performed, including: fuel and air filter brand
(Mopar recommended) and condition.
·

Check Crankcase Ventilation (CCV) system for restriction which may cause oil
infiltration into turbo and intake system.
·

Some vehicles may only have a part of the Documentation Kit (i.e. Diesel Owners
Manual Supplement). Make sure the vehicle/customer has received a complete
Documentation Kit.
If any of the DTC's listed in the SYMPTOM/CONDITION are present and the conditions
listed above have been met, perform the REPAIR PROCEDURE.
PARTS REQUIRED:
Qty. Part No. Description
2 05149263AA Oxygen Sensors (Do not use earlier versions of O2
sensor when performing this repair. Ensure part
number is 05149263AA or higher level).

m)
11002 Thermo Tec
(or equivalent)
Exhaust Insulating Wrap - Rated for 2000º F (1093º C)
2” X 50’ - (1 roll will service 4 vehicles)
2 NPN 5” Diameter Stainless Steel Band Clamp
1(AR) 68049170AA Documentation Kit (includes: Diesel Owners Manual

Thanks for printing this out Squid! That note about the ECM software may be the reason I wasn't getting a trouble code. Thanks again!

Looks like the exhaust wrap is intended to retain heat...So, if you are in regen and run through water or something else the heat dissipates thus requiring a longer regen cycle that may cause dpf full problems...With the warp the system is a closer form of a adiabatic system...I wounder if the fuel pulses are driven by the DPF temperature, and if that wrap will improve fuel economy by reducing pulses and increasing passive regens??
The other concern is the software update...Will that bring the ecm up to the bootlegger status??

Vis, I'm going to find the info on the flashes but I'm pretty sure that X was the last one that dealt with sooting even though BA is in fact the most recent. I don't think BA was released for sooting but rather for a shift issue but I'm still looking for the info to be sure.

For me, I'm just going to go buy the oxygen sensors and some wrap and do it myself. Until the CCV Filter issue my truck was running great so I'm going to leave it at X sad that Dodge didn't upgrade the sensors when the G30 recall was released.

Yup, you and I are on the same wave length...Let me know where you get them...Also, it says that the wrap will do 3 trucks...I'll pay you enough for mine so we can split cost

Already have the wrap and clamps on order and I'm looking for the sensors which is hard now because so many dealerships no longer exist.

Anyone who wants to wrap their pipe can get the stuff off me for the price of shipping (3 people).

Once I wrap mine I have no use for the rest of the wrap so the first 2 people (Vis is already in) who want to do this just post it here. I'll send enough wrap and 2 clamps to get the Job done since most dealerships won't do the TSB unless you have the appropriate codes.
