When asked about reseting the "service required: see dealer now" indicator on the overhead, you said to make sure I was using the brake and not the gas. All the instructions I have read tell you to use both. brake twice and the gas twice. Am I missing something here?

Also, an earlier question was whether or not the "service required: see dealer now" was the same message people were describing as "perform service" or "perform maintenance". No it is not the same message. the brake-brake-gas-gas in 10 seconds does not reset the "service required".

Sorry but your original post was confusing. The reset is for the Perform Service warning that comes on when you need to change the CCV Filter.

The following procedure is for the oil change warning and may work for you.
Quote:
1: Turn the key on but don't start the truck.
Quote:

2: Push the accelerator pedal to the floor 3 times and then turn the key off.
There's a bunch of things that will make you get the (Service Required see dealer now) warning like if the truck thinks the DPF is Clogged. Have you seen a reduced power notice on the overhead?

Another cause is if you're running the Smarty Programmer. If so, you just need to hook it up and clear the codes twice (Even if there aren't any) and the message will go away. It's just a software glitch with the Smarty and some of the other programmers like the XRT.

Low rail Pressure will also do it as will a dirty air filter

I'm banging my head on the wall with this one. I just put in a new K&N filter. The DPF is gone. I installed a new CCV filter today. I have a Mini Maxx tuner from H&S that I updated today and reinstalled on the truck, also cleared codes even though no codes were showing up. I also unhooked both batteries and touched the cables together to discharge the voltage stored in any capacitors (got this info from another forum), that didn't work either. I'm taking to the dealer Monday, maybe they can reset.

Just because you don't have the DPF doesn't mean the stupid ECU isn't thinking it's full. I've gotten codes that aren't even applicable to a diesel, weird.
