Talking Po42e

After installing my Edge, I pulled the codes and P042E was there. Searched it here and then pulled the actuator off the EGR. The valve seems to move just fine, the actuator geared plunger seems to work so I put it back together (those little retainers on the spring are a sum gun) and took it for a cruise. Coded again. So this time I just cleared it. Must be the low temp issue since I was in a regen when it popped up this time. Now I know why the battery cable clamps have so many vise grip scars. Somebody has been clearing that code the hard way.

When mine threw this code I took the Egr off and cleaned it. Physically it looked fine and the plunger moved freely. After clearing the code and having it come back the dealership replaced it under the 100,000 mile warranty. Work ticket said "EGR valve failed - internal error".

I sure hate to get into a dealer loop.

Cleared the code and today (Sunday) my lovely wife and I went for a ride on the freeway to go to the RV show north of Baltimore. No more regen, no more code, truck gained mileage on the overhead all the way there and all the way back. Had it on mileage tune on the edge. So the only trip I might make to the dealer is to get some remotes programmed. I am really liking this truck. My lovely wife said it rides nicely. And it was bone empty, not any load in it at all. We found a great travel trailer for our full timing. Wife loves it. And that really counts for a home.
