Some that see this code have had to have their Turbos replaced due to the controller going out and others have only needed to have the Turbo cleaned. It's your guess as to if the controller was actually going out if the Tech/Service department just took the easy way out. I've included a PDF that explains the P2563 Code and the troubleshooting procedure used. If the truck is running okay other then this I'd probably just drag race up some on ramps first and see if that doesn't clean the sliding Vanes.

well sometimes itll surge slightly, other times itll almost die at stops and at higher loads. unfortunately I dont have any on ramps here, but plenty of hills, do you think hooking up my camper would help put some load on to clean it out or do it unloaded?

Anything that will build boost will move the sliding vane, load, acceleration or both.

My '08 6.7 did the same thing yesterday. I noticed the truck running a little rough the other day. I turned it off and that seemed to fix it. Yesterday it did it again, and the CEL came on. I stopped at an Auto Zone and an Advance Auto to see if they could pull the code. They both gave me a P2563, "Turbo Charger Boost Control Position Sensor".

I called the local dealer in Colorado Springs and they advised me not to drive it any more than necessary and that I should bring it in right away. Long story short, they installed a plug some where in the turbo and cleaned it out. After searching many diesel forums I found this to be a common 6.7 problem. I have 61,000 miles on the truck, a lot of it fifth wheel towing miles. It was covered under warranty.

All is well for now. I can't see where they installed the plug or how I can do it myself later if I need to. Can anyone assist me with this?

I believe I've seen the cleaning procedure and I'll see if I can find it.

I just joined you forum and it has been extremely helpful. I have an 08 2500 with 56000 on it and it is doing exactly what I am reading from other folks here reference the p2563 code. I have an appointment with dealer monday, this knowledge will be very helpful.

This thread and others have me thinking. I have an '08 2500 and have seen others with different Turbo codes and they were Tapped and cleaned and sometimes returned and replaced. I had the 2262 code back in Nov of '10 and my turbo was replaced. If I remember right mine is a Mar '08 build. The turbo was replaced at 47,000+ miles and most of those were before the J35 recall. Makes me wonder if there was a bad batch of Turbos in there or if the J35 was the solution and the original ECM programs were the problem. Merely my thoughts. I hope the tap and clean does the trick for you!
