So if no smoke or steam, I would look at the seals on the turbo (turbine/exhaust side). If no oil in the the intake horn, rules out the compressor side. If you have a dpf installed, I would pull the exhaust from the turbo to after the dpf to prevent the smog stuff from getting all fouled up (that will be very expensive to replace). If the turbo and not under warranty, I would have the turbo rebuilt by a diesel turbo specialist (many out there), will be cheaper and better.
