Usually first thing I do before I do anything is, get up under neither with a bunch or rags and some degreaser of some sort, clean the area the best I can.

Once everything is cleaned up, chalk all the wheels, set E-brake and start her up and sit under the truck with a drop light and watch to see where it's coming from. Snap a picture or two if possible, and then go to my Mechanic(if I think it is something I cant do myself), and see what they may have to say about it.

If it is something as simple as oil pan, or trans pan needing a new gasket, then I will take care of that myself, but if it requires more work like dropping the drive shaft, and removing seals or taking anything apart, I get my mechanic involved and let the pro's do it.
