Default Intermittent Exhaust Brake

I am new to this forum so excuse me if this issue has been brought up before...I have a 2007.5 2500 4x4 with 6.7L cummins and an automatic. I was pulling tandom my camper and boat this fall taking a cross wind of about 35 mph. My exhaust brake was working well all summer pulling tandom but it just quit working about an hour into a 3 hour pull. I have just been ignoring it until I had time to work on it. Now it is winter and I use the EB to help warm up the truck. When the truck is cold the EB works both in idle to help warming and to slow the truck during driving. After about 5-7 miles of operation the EB stops working. The light is on, the tranny is still working just as if the EB was working but no braking occurs. I know that there are many sensors that provide input to the EB function so I am looking for a place to start. BTW I purchased this truck in March of 2007 and in August of 2007 I put a DPF delete on it that only bypasses the back 2 EGT sensors.

All input is greatly appreciated.

In my case when using the EB to warm up the truck it will stay on until the coolant temp reaches a preset point then it will disengage. The coolant temp and the ambient temps all play a part in this control. I have noticed that it will also stay on when driving or when you come to a stop at a light, then turn off as well. The normal braking operation does not seem to be affected though. The EB will also come on and the idle raise when it needs to go into regen when idling as well, in park of course. Hope this sheds some light.

I do appreciate the feedback, however the problem is that is does not work when I am trying to slow the truck down pulling a trailer after the water temperature is above "really cold".

I have read some information about the backpressure sensor and unplugging this sensor and replugging it. Anyone done this? Anyone able to explain where this sensor is located?

Did this problem happen before or after the delete was done ?
