All done. The CCV filter was a breeze. The fuel filter took an hour, but that's my normal luck when it comes to projects. The fuel filter was so tight that I stripped the bottom lug with the 1/2" drive ratchet. So I immediately proceeded to break the plastic housing with the strap wrench. I hope the neighbors don't have any small children listening to what's coming from my garage at this point. I stepped back and took my emotions down a notch so I could think of a solution. I finally managed to turn the filter by gripping the drain boss on the bottom with a pair of channel locks and wedging against the water sensor plug in. I thought whoever installed this filter was in idiot......until I put the new one on. I had to overtighten the new filter in order for the electrical connection to not be against the block. Plugging it in would not be an issue but unplugging at the next filter change would probably result on a broken connector. BTW....The Geno's flyer that came in the box refers to a new dual element fuel filter for our trucks that was part of a TSB from Chrysler. I didn't see this part online when I ordered so I got the standard one for my truck. Next change I'll order the newer/better filter. Mopar P/N 68061633AA

I haven't been able to find the new filter either and as for the first filter change, I know all to well your pain and use of colorful language.

I drove 60 highway miles this morning. After resetting the Lie-O-Meter, the overhead read 22mpg for most of the drive and never fell below 21mpg (at 70mph). I have never seen that before. Normally it would settle between 18-19. My buddy saw similar results on his 2003 5.9 after a fuel filter change. Now it's wait and see if this also fixed the intermittent bog between idle and half throttle. If that was indeed the original filter it was way overdue at 81,000 miles.
