WELL I WENT TO MYRTLE BEACH SOUTH CAROLINA LAST WEEK. WHEN WE GOT THERE THE TRUCK STARTED TO MAKE A FLAPING NOISE TO THE PASSANGER SIDE. TOOK IT A DODGE DEALER AND TO MAKE IT SHORT IT COST ME 1,200 TO FIXED IT JUST BECAUSE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED BY 200 MILES WHEN I GOT THERE. THE REBUILD THE FRONT AXEL AND FIXED THE PROBLEM
WE GOT BACK HOME TO ILLINOIS AND THE TRUCK WAS LEAKING WORST THAN THE GULF LEAK. SO THE FIGHT BEGAN AND LUCKY ME SOUTH CAROLINA DODGE ARE PAYING FOR THE RAPLACEMENT OF THE FRONT AXEL. SO HOPEFULLY I CAN HAVE MY TRUCK BACK TOMORROW HAVE ANYONE HAD PROBLEM WIT THE AXEL SEALS? |

It is a shame that cummins chose to use such a great engine in with one of the worst truck manufactures "dodge". I have had nothing but trouble with this truck and i am sick and tired of the only excuse they have " sorry it is a deffective part from the manufacturer" they have fixed every part that have to be with the front diferential and stering and still not fixed. Now they are telling me they need the front casing and it is on back order and it's being 2 weeks and the truck is still at the dealer. Called coorporate and i am still waiting for their help but it seems that they do not care about the customer wich out all the doge customer we are one with their most expensive truck. I think they should try to help us out some more especially all of us who got our trucks in 07. We are the actual truck tester. We went through all the trouble to let them know what was need it to be fixed to make their truck the way they are now. Dodge should take their time in reserching who do they get the part they use. Sorry just venting my frustations out with one of the worst truck manufacturers.

Thanks garlic. I went to traded in for a 2011 ford but after looking at those there is a lot to loose. No mega cab, no reclining back seats, no engine brake and more important no cummins i it. Not worth it at all. So i am keeping mine.

I think that is rather high, half that and it could be a good deal ( I paid 1/2 that for mine at purchase time). Read over that extended warranty very very carefully. Consumable items are not usually covered and that means things like axle seals. Things that you are after on such a factory warranty is engine, tranny (but usually they have limits on it), turbo, transfer case, computers, differentials, and A/C.
BTW, you can get a cummins engine with a FORD, but its an option only available with the F650/F750 trucks and its a 6.7L. So imagine that I went back to re-read your original post, dang, $1200.00 for front seals. On a stock truck, the front hubs comes apart within 30 minutes and another 30 minutes to put it back together each side. The tool to remove and push new seals in is around $200.00. The 2 seals are about $200.00 so talk about one hell of a mark up !! They nicked the seal when pushing the shaft back in. There is reason why they say do not all the shaft to rub against the seal when re-assembling it. The original shop that did the work never did a front axle seal before .... Now what I found on my dually 4x4 before I removed the factory front hubs and tossed them is that there is a lot of loading force pushing the wheel up and at an angle. This causes the drive shaft in the axle to be forced down. This will cause problems to the seals. When I pulled mine all apart, I checked the seals and for abnormal wear marks on the shaft. Lucked out, all was really good.

Well i got mine back and they replace everithing that have to do with the front diferential. So the whole front is brand new but springs and shocks. They are saying that what happened tu the truck is very rare. I guess i am the lucky one who got the bad one. I hope this is it for it. The dealer is telling me that i should get the extended warranty cause it is good truck to keep to for a long time. They are telling me it is like getting a new truck it is cover bumper to bumper. Belive me i will read the small prints before i buy it.
