Default Exhaust Brake issue

So now that winter is here I have been starting my truck in the morning and noticed that when I hit the EB that it doesn't kick the idle up like it used to. i can hear the brake kick in so I know it is switching on. also I can hear a wistle coming from the passanger front tire well. any one have any clues or do I need to make the dreaded drive to the dealer?

From my limited knowledge on this truck...I have had it for about 3 weeks now.... there is only two ways the truck will go into high idle.

- Based on temperture... we have had some cold days around -10C and I have noticed that the truck will start...and then kick into high idle.

- Manually turning the high idle on by turning the cruise on and hitting the set button while in park. This feature has to be enabled by the dealer...when I got my truck it wasn't enabled.

The intake draws air from the fender well but it could also be the Turbo you're hearing or even an air leak from the plumbing that runs from the intake box to the turbo. As for the engine idling up when engaging the EB I've never noticed that.

So this truck has always idled up to about 1000rpm with the eb on from day one. I believe it is a temp based. I also understand the air intake is on the passanger side. the sound is different sorta like a vac leak.

I know when it's cold (Below freezing) my truck does idle up after a while but it does this regardless of whether the EB is on or not.

If you live out in the country you might have a mouse or rat building a nest in you intake box opening. Some may laugh but it is that time of the year and they find the darnest places to live.

The high idle is not programmed to come on with the E-Brake. Automatic high idle is a stand alone program that takes many temp variables into account.

I started mine up on Tuesday and had the EB on, it kicked on the automatic high idle after about a minute. If it isn't supposed to do it, is my truck broken? BTW the outside temp was about 34*F.

It is supposed to do that. Nothing wrong with the truck. Some times I have to idle mine for extended periods of time and it will do the same thing even when the engine is warm. Conditions I have noticed are: Idle time at about 2 minutes + Gear position in Park and foot OFF the brake, It will idle up and activate the exhaust brake.
