6.7L Cummins Forum

I have a 2007 3500, and when the eb is on, and it kicks in i hear a loud squeal. This happens from time to time and it is happen more and more offen. Today i think i heard it while i was on the throttle. Any one ever had this problem? dealer replace the rear EGR gasket but this did not fix it. Truck has 187k miles on it.

I can hear the turbo whine, sounds like a F16. Since the truck doesn't actually have an exhaust brake but uses the turbo I'd think you'd hear the squeek all the time if it was actually the turbo/Exhaust Brake.

Thank you for the quick reply. I this has just starting happening and it is starting to do it when the boost presure is at its highest. Then other times, it sounds like it use too. i guess i think when a sound changes, i think something is wrong. my truck also smokes alot, it has had the recall and reflash but it will blow more blk smoke then by buddies programed 6.0 powerstroke. Any suggestions there?

That's one of the signs of a clogged DPF. (Diesel Particulate Filter for those not 6.7L Savvy)

I also have this issue on my 09. It started at around 20K miles (now have 120K) and I attributed it to soot build up on the turbo since I was idling alot while running hotshot, there was a stretch I didnt turn off for 5 days. I only get it on extended down hills, never while accelerating.

It's not turbo whistle, sounds more like an old electric engine with bad bearings that scretches (sp?).

that is funny, i got a p2002 code today, after being on the interstate for 2.5 hrs at 70 to 80 mph. Guess the regen is not working on my truck. is there anyother way to clean it out?
