Over the last few days I have watched the tach and 1100-1500 is the magic number. Only one problem in my case I have the manual. Seems if I down shift the problem is much less likely to occur. Will continue to monitor and post other happenings.

Yes, because you are keeping the rpm's up....Could be the same problem some of us have noted.

I had my air brake fail to disingate this morning. I was at a stop light when I turned on the air brake. The idle sounded much louder as it would while the air brake was engaged. When I attempted to accelerate, the more throttle I gave it, the more the truck attempted to declerate. I tried turning off the air brake with no success, and ultimately had to pull into a parking lot and shutoff the truck. I got no check engine light. This has never happened to me until today.

So, what happened after you shut off the truck?

Shutting off the truck automaticaly turned off the engine brake and reset it. Once I restarted the truck, the engine brake wasn't on. I did turn it on again, but did not experience the same problem. I haven't had the same problem since that day -- thankfully. Perhaps it was just a fluke.
