Default Engine Brake

Hey guys have an interesting dilema here. My 08 2500 runs like well you know. The only issue I have is on occation the exhaust break will "hang up". You either have to play with the throttle to make it release or sometimes turn it off. It does this in town or during a hard excelleration. I have the Manual transmission. 3.73 gears. 8700 miles. Also FWIW I just replaced the fuel filter for the first time just to be on the safe side for the trip home. I traveled from N. Texas to Grand Ledge,Michigan. I am happy as I got 18.6 MPG from 1st tank and 18.3 the second. The exhaust break is concerning only cause I don't want any problems to manifest. Thanks for any and all imput.
Patrick

Can you define "hang up" a little differently? With the EB on and the foot off the pedal, the system defuels...What are you experiencing with it??

By hang up I mean when I press on the accelerator the exhaust break will not release and let you accelerate. you can tell it is still trying to slow the vehicle. IT doesn't do this all the time. Seems to be more intermediate city driving or after a hard acceleration. Thanks again, Patrick

Wow, that's really strange. No check engine light?

Nope no light. It has never done it on the interstate but town driving or rapid acceleration and then let off to make sure all the soot is gone is when it will do it. have noticed it more since being here in Michigan. Probably a coincidence. I'll keep an eye on it and keep you posted.

No still no codes, it doesn't do it all the time I am watching and gathering data. It does not do it on the interstate. I will take it in when I get home just to be safe. Will let you know what they say.

There is something that most of us feel. At around 1100 rpm ( the point at which the engine brake disengages) we can feel bucking, like the system is in a closed loop and can't decide to brake or release...Just more info.

I've noticed something similiar....and it 'seems' like its changing gears too. I've notice that there might be a point where I am accelerating a little and just as I am backing off the throttle, the tranny up shifts and the brake comes on...it seem a little rough for sure.

Its happened a few times now..and what are the odds of that??? I have to watch a little closer to see 'if' in fact that is what is happening...
