Default Dome light and left rear door

Silly question. I have not looked too deep into it yet but is becoming a bother. My left rear door lock does not work from the key fob or the drivers door control. The window works fine, the dome light does not operate from that door no either. Questions: (1) How is the dome light activated? switch, mechanical/proximity. I haven't noticed a button/switch for the door. Now I am not the brightest bulb on the tree some times but I have not checked the dome light/ door open function of the right side rear door yet (don't use it much). (2) Can you over ride the 'time out' function for the dome lights? It sucks to have to close the door then reopen them after the lights shut off, worse when the rear door doesn't work to do that. Just asking.

Give me some time to check out the wiring diagram.

I went through this same situation with the rear passenger door. I ended up having the dealership check it out while it was in for the J35. The harness inside the door that goes from the door pillar to all the power components, had three broken wires and another that had cracked insulation. They installed a new harness and all is good. The tab was $150 CDN.

Thanks for the information. Looks like I get to pull the door apart.

The wires on mine were broken inside the flexible rubber tube at the door pillar end and about 1 to two inches toward the door from the plug. Normally I would have fixed it (the harness is definitely fixable and I kept it) but the truck was there, I was there and they had the part.

Do you by chance have the receipt and does it have the P/N for that harness? Sounds like this may be a trouble spot.

The part # on the work order is 56051694AA. The price for the part was $38 and $109.96 CDN for labor. I don't know whether the part # is the same for the driver's side. While the truck was there, I had them program the fog lights to remain on with the high beams and set the speedo for 285 tires. Total bill was $247.73 CDN.
