Sorry for being delayed with a response, been stuck at a coal mine in Wyoming last week and the internet from the hotel sucked. I am glad to hear that there is some type of diagnosic response from the dealership, The EGR malfunction seems like it would explain some of the issue as far as holding exhaust back pressure in the manifold, if it leaks it won't give you consistant performance, it will attempt to overcome the lack of back pressure by applying more EB. "Knock on Wood", I have not had any of those issues with mine and it is used for dual purposes, but it has developed a "Bark" when the EB turns off and sometimes it is slightly delayed. The EB functions very well but will feather itself in and out depending on the grade, load, speed factors. Please keep us informed with the outcome of the repair. Don't be discouraged about the truck and its systems, be thankful you don't have the powerstroke, my buddies are still having issues that my 96 did not even compare with, additional injectors, HP fuel and oil pumps, turbos and transmissions. Let me know. Bill

Garlic,
Sorry for your bad hotel deal. In our business we use to stay in hotels 35 weekends a year and then almost three years ago we bought a trailer and stay in it. Recently we purchased a new 5th wheel and really wonder why we didn't do this a long time ago. I appreciate your response and today took the truck went in to Carson Dodge and they will be replacing the turbo. Hopefully this will resolve the problem and I will get a functioning truck back. I have been very pleased with my truck the power, economy and it hasn't let me down yet. I am frustrated though because I take my truck very seriously and treat it the best I can. Will let you know how this all turns out. Thanks, Bill |

Thanks for the sympathy of the rooms, but I wish the company would let me take my rig, but the schedule of my travels are not condusive to that type of travel (Dang do I ever wish they were) but I am glad that you are getting some attention from the dealer. By the way, Wright Wyoming does have a 4 star hotel and eatery, if you are ever in the area, I do recommend the the plate of 'Oysters' no matter what you think (if you have never tried them) they are worth the adventure. Please by all means let me (us) know what the out come is..
Again, thanks. This years travels will take me to Chile and Brazil, so the rig will have some 'Off' time.

Wow I am guessing that I am having some bad luck.
I had complained to Dodge that I was getting a vibration when I depressed clutch pedal and each time they indicated that was just the nature of a dual disc clutch. So now they want to tear down truck and see what's up. The truck now has 32,000 miles and this has been happening for some time. I can't believe particularly with my duty cycles that would only expect 32,000 miles from a clutch on a ton pickup. Do travel through Wyoming occassionally although now we always travel with the 5th wheel. Always the same comfortable be and most often quiet. Thanks, Bill |

Dang, what luck. Sorry to hear of the clutch issue, there are alot of HD dual friction units on the market now, if you really need to have it changed. I assume at this point the EB problem has been resolved??? I hope so..
I got the yellow one when I bought the 96 and lived through it so I bought another Dodge, got to love them, I am glad I did too.. Hope you feel the same even with the 'birth defects' they all have. Let me know.

Thanks for the reply.
Since the clutch is not slipping in the least I might wait a bit to do any work. Given what is happening now I don't think that I would use a MOPAR oem clutch and certainly not for what price they are quoting. Will keep on keeping on. I appreciate all of your communications regarding my latest issues. Thanks, Bill |

Got truck back today and it seems that the exhaust brake is back.. Decided since cluthc is not slipping that I will continue on until it is more serious. I believe the the throwout bearing is bad but Chrysler will not help out. So now I am starting to research new clutch possibilities.
Thanks for all of your replies Bill |

What year is your truck? Sorry if I missed the specs but I had a small issue with my exhaust break. It wanted to "hang up" or "stick" from time to time. Since Turbo replacement it has been flawless. Hope yours continues.

Mne is an 09 6 spd manual, 3.73 6.7 with 32,000. The exhaust brake would I guess pulsate from more braking to less in a very distinct rythym...After cleaning turbo, cleaning egr valve, then replacing egr valve and a flow control unit with no success they installed a new turbo. Unfortunately, today I found a rather large oil leak that at first seem to come from the bell housing maybe indicating a real seal but than after cleaning that area it may be the oil leak is coming down the side of the block. Any way it appears that brake is working properly but now I am having this leak and clutch vibration. It seems I spend a good deal of time traveling to my Dodge dealer
