This is what I've been troubleshooting this week.
![]() 2 weeks ago I got the Perform Service warning on the overhead (P1507 Crankcase Filter) so I ordered the filter from Geno's but it was on back order and due to be delivered on Tuesday. Since the warning was intermittent I continued to drive the truck but since I'm old school I remember how stuck PCV valves use to allow oil to be sucked up into the intake back in the day so I didn't tow or get on her just in case (P2262 here we come ).Monday morning as I was heading to one of the job sites I got the Check engine light and when I stopped I pulled the code with the edge and you guessed it, P2262. When I got done at the site I got into the truck and without even thinking I jumped on her as I pulled out on the highway and she accelerated as usual and then at around 18 pounds of boost fell all over herself. A mile down the road I got the first warning in over 54,000 miles that the filter was 90% full and regeneration had begun. I watched as the percentage dropped from 90%, to 80% and finally to 70%, then the message disappeared and the System OK appeared on the overhead. Then about 2 miles later I got another check engine light and I expected to see 2262 but when I pulled the code at the next site I found: P1451-DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER SYSTEM PERFORMANCE P242F-DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER RESTRICTION - ASH ACCUMULATION (Read about them here Cummins 6.7L P1451 and P242F Diesel Paticulant Filter Codes ) Uh-Oh, that doesn't look good thinking of the Crankcase Filter. ![]() As I'm driving the rest of the night I can see on the Edge that I'm in Regeneration and I mean for miles and miles and miles and then about 5 miles from home it stops and not long after that I get another overhead warning but this time it says the filter is 100% full and then it says I need to see the dealership. The next time I look up it now says System OK? ![]() When I park her I check for codes and I now have: P2A00-O2 SENSOR 1/1 CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE P2A01-O2 SENSOR 1/2 CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE (Read about these codes here Cummins 6.7L P2A00, P2A01: O2 SENSOR CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE ) Now I'm really scared thinking of that Crankcase Filter and the fact I'm well past the 50,000 mile Emissions warranty. When I get u,p I replace the Crankcase Filter that UPS had dropped off and pull both O2 sensors surprised by the fact that they are both clean. I mean there's a small dusting of soot on them but nothing like when I pulled them after the G30 recall Cummins 6.7L Oxygen Sensor Cleaning (Pictures) so I didn't induce any oil into the filter, what a relief. So I wipe them down, reinstall them, clear the P2A00 and P2A01 codes (The DPF codes Won't erase) and go for a 50 mile drive. During the drive I watch the Edge and no regeneration and I figure since it had regenerated for 30 miles the day before it wouldn't but 20 miles down the road I get the DPF warning of the filter being 90% full and then it says it's regenerating but my EGT and Edge says no? Hmmmm, during the 50 mile drive I went from 100% full, to system OK, to see dealership, to system OK as I drive up the driveway but the Edge never did show a regeneration? Now I'm confused, so I performed all the checks in the manual (Glad I bought it when I did) and as I'm checking the connector on the O2 Sensor Module on the frame I remember that I had crossed a flooded road right before the first Job site when all this began. So my theory is the connector isn't water proof and I shorted out the module thus the two O2 codes from O2 sensors that are clean and Ohm out. Also the reason for the long initial regeneration on Monday morning and none since then. In the morning I'm going to stop by the dealership and buy an O2 module and I'll let you know if it fixes it. If so, I'm going to be doing some connector sealing this weekend. (Sorry for the long post but it's been a long process.) Tim

Well they didn't have one in stock nor did they have one in the entire state of Kansas or even ST Louis where the main warehouse is. Either these things just don't crap out or they do and often? It'll be here later this week so I guess I'm back to driving the Nissan Titan with 117,000 miles and never has been to the dealership. Great trucks those Nissan's.
Oxygen Sensor Module P/N 5094847AG Price $65.95

James I bought the Factory Service Manual on CD for $120 from Geno's Garage.
Thanks VIS and I don't think I was Regenerating since I have an audible alarm that comes on when Regenerating from the Edge. It's possible I got water in the exhaust but I'm not sure how or where it would have been induced and it surely would be dried up by now, you would think? I'm going with the 02 module since both 02 circuits seem to have failed and the module being toast would explain the truck not regenerating since the ECM needs these two inputs. Any thoughts or Idea would be appreciated since I have a week to poke around with the truck. If it's not raining tomorrow I may see about pulling my DPF off to have a look see.

Squid, I would check for cracks in the exhaust.
Here is a link on how to test o2 sensors: Oxygen Sensor InformationCheers, Roberto

I followed the flow chart. The first thing you do is ohm out the oxygen sensor Cummins 6.7L 02 Sensor Testing and both are right on at 3.2 ohms.
Then you take off the C2 connector on the ECU and check for a SHORTED EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSOR by checking for 3.2 ohms between pins 20 and 29. If that is good you then check for opens and shorts between the ECU and EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSOR signal and return circuits and if that is good you then check for a short on pin 20 of the C2 Ecu connector with every other pin on that connector. If that checks out it tells you to replace the oxygen sensor module. Since I had went through that flooded area and both 02 sensor circuits are now bad it makes sense and once I confirm this I'll be sealing all my connectors that are there on the frame. Geez, a 4x4 you can't take through high water, go figure? ![]()
