Hi there...
2008 3500 Mega Cab. I had a dpf delete 5" exhaust system (full elctronics) + juice w/attitude installed just over a month ago. Truck ran great, no complaints, no codes, completely trouble free. Last nite I get around to installing my CAI (Volant Powercore w/ scoop). Took it for a spin after the install and noticed a significant difference...felt like there was finally enough air coming in to justify the exhaust...much smoother + better engine response. So the problem is this...I get a couple of kms from home this AM and the truck goes into regen?? And now it won't come out? Finishes a regen cycle and immediately starts another one. I have no clue what to think. On the surface it appears that adding the CAI triggered this, but that doesn't make sense to me... I don't have an EGR delete...thought I'd just leave that. I did read somewhere else that unplugging the EGR may resolve this issue?? Has anyone run into this before and can send some critical pointers my way?? I have contacted the shop that did the exhaust / electronics work...they're willing to look at it and try to resolve it (they're stumped too based on what I've told them)...however they're 2.5 hrs from where I live so I'm hoping I can avoid blowing an entire day on this and that there's a simple solution. I know, I know...probably a little ambitious of me... Thank-you in advance... |

Yup, since the truck initiates a regeneration from a difference in pressure between the inlet and outlet of the DPF I would guess there's something amiss with one of your dummie sensors/switches/diodes that's suppose to fool the ECM into thinking the DPF is there and empty. This will help you understand how a stock truck operates when it comes to regeneration and help assist you in your troubleshooting.
