Hi this is my first post been on for a while reading as much as possible,
i have a 2007.5 3500 with a 6.7 the check engine light came on, it the P242F DPF ash B,S, code. I hear people talk about 70% or 80% on the overhead information deal when the DPF is sooting up my pickup doesn't show anything their. I just get the yellow engine light down by the speedo.. Is it because mine was an early model?(6.7) the check engine light came on the first month when I got the truck last year in Sept. it had 68,000 mile on it. Took it to the dealer they said they had to replaced the DPF, clean everything out, they said it was still under warranty, but still got charged like 200.00 dollars for an oxygen sensor they said the warranty didn't cover sensors. My question is since I don’t have the overhead percentage telling me where its at on the %, if the check engine light comes on could it be i just need to drive the heck out of it in order to clear the CEL, or do i have to take it to the stealership which i hate to do. THANKS in advance any advice will help. |

the overhead will give you a message when the dpf is sooting up. i just had my first message on my 08 with 26000 miles on it. i got an audible "bell" and i looked for some kind of warning light, which there was none. i looked up at the overhead and it said that dpf filter 80% full, regeneration required. so i took it out on the highway and drove at a constant 60 mph speed. after a couple of miles, the overhead read "regeneration in progress". I continued at this speed for about 8 miles and then there was another audible "bell" and the overhead read "regeneration complete" for about 15-20 seconds and then returned to my compass and temp reading.
i have had "check engine" lights before (about 5 times) and it has always either been either the turbo or some oxy sensors. hope this helps. |
