Default See Dealer For Oil Change

I am a first time Diesel owner, and I am pretty sure that I made a great decision on my 6.7 Turbo HD 2500 Big Horn. I love it. I was wondering do I really need to see my dealer for an oil change when my warning system is telling me to change my oil....see dealer? I bought my truck from the dealer with 9000 mi. on it. The dealer changed the oil when they got it. Only 2 days after I had it the warning system above the windshield was telling me to see a dealer to change my oil. I changed it myself, but the warning mssg will not go off. I tried to press the reset with no luck. I could not find this in the owners manual at all. Any advice for me?

Thanks,
Big Steve

You can change your own oil. Try this to reset it: Key on (Don't start the truck) push the accelerator pedal to the floor 3 times, key off.

Default Let us know

Let us know if it works. I just got that message also with only 2500 miles on my oil change. I don't drive mine but 3 or 4 times a week, so I don't accumulate miles as quickly as one driven every day. Does the computer clock tell you to change your oil automatically at 90 or 120 days?

You can actually take it in and have it set for whatever oil change milage you want. I had mine turned off when I went in for a flash and the procedure that James gave you will work to shut it off. Welcome to the site you all!

I hope you had better luck getting your filter off than I did. i changed my oil for the first
Time and i swear they had the biggest guy in the plant put it on as tight as they could.
I had to pull the inner fendeer and use the redneck method with a screw driver to get it to budge before my filter wrench would spin it.

Stupid Robots!
They have to be robots because there just can't be that many men on steroids working on the engine assembly line. Every vehicle I've ever bought new has been like this even my Harleys.

Yup, same here. I even call the Pontiac dealer to complain about my wife's car...Had to drive a tire tool through the filter before I could get it off. They just don't want you doing your own service.

Basterds I say... I thought that I should visit the factory that put my motor together and find the SOB that put that on.... Then I thought better of it and figured as tight as that filter was he must be a real big SOB...
