Default Hello

I am a do DIY kinda guy especially when it means saving money in this economy. I can't tell you all how nice it is to finally find a website where everyone is so willing to help each other with their Cummins Diesels.

Mine is a 2008 2500 crew cab. Bought it because we had to have 4x4 here in Ruidoso NM in the winter. That or stay home and not work (not an option). With all the emissions stuff they added in 2007 it's made for all kinds of troubles with the turbo.

Well anyway....I appreciate all the great info and pictures on the site.Keep up the sharing. I'll share when I am able to provide info I can't find here.

Thanks for the welcome. I had my Perform Service message show up on the over head console come on and found helpful info in the forum. I went to the dealer to see what the damage would be to take of replacing the CCV filter. Yikes!!! $650 estimated on 4 hours work and parts. Needless to say I found the step by step instructions to change the filter on the forum. It took me a whole 30 minutes to do the entire change from start to finish. The filter listed for $158. The dodge parts guy exclaimed "thats ridiculous !!!" he immediately gave me a 10% discount. Well.... I appreciated the gesture. The only remaining issue is that pesky "Perform Service" message on the over head console. Anyone out there know how to reset the Perform Service message???

Post #2 up above and click on the link.

Just remember to hold the the accelerator pedal to the floor after the second time and shut the engine off before letting up.

The Cummins dealer here sells the CCV filter for $78.00 out the door, Last month when I changed mine it took less then 2 beers, sorry about 15 minutes, to change. I did notice that there was no oil in the tube to the turbo and no residual oil dripping from it. That, for me was a great sign that so faar everything works like it is supposed to.
