Default Draining water from the fuel filter

I have had my truck 5 month now and went to drain the water from the fuel filter.
At the bottom of the fuel filter there was a screw knob with a hose connected to it.
I turn the knob and nothing came out the hose; I kept turning till fuel came out the threads and still nothing out the hose.
Does this mean I just have no water in the filter?
Any help on the fuel and water separator system would be greatly appreciated.

I've included a picture of the indicator you'll see if there is water in the filter (Gas pump with water drops).

As for the drain, I've never been able to get it to work without leaking around that knob and in 44,000 miles and now 4 filter changes I've also never seen the indication for water in the filter either.

Same here 24000 miles...Systems sucks. Todays diesel fuel seems to be fairly dry...Change it as required.

On a couple of other forums people have reported a problem with the valve leaking after draining the water. They have to change the filter to get it to stop. So I would not drain mine unless I had a new filter available in case it leaks after draining. JMO

I believe it since it doesn't work worth a hoot to drain the fuel. I wonder if anyone else makes a fuel filter other then Mopar? I shall go to Geno's garage and look..............................there are other forums?

I've never been able to get any water out of mine. I can only assume that that's a good thing. I just change the filter avery 20,000 kms and call it a day.

My 6.7 has 13,000 miles on it. I was planning to change the fuel filter myself. It's not ready to be changed out yet, but I wanted to see if I could get it out before buying a new one. First, I drained a little fuel from the drain to see how that worked. I found out later that there was some talk about the filter leaking at the drain after draining some of the fuel. The filter is the 3410AA model. Sure enough mine now leaks and I can't get it to stop. I called a local dealer and explained the problem to them. He say's they'll replace it under warranty. I have an appointment Wednesday morning to get the new one. I'm 1600 miles away from home and told him I want a new one, I don't want to chance it still leaking while I'm on the road. He seemed eager to please - so we'll see. I'll let you all know what happens.
