Default Cummins 6.7L PERFORM SERVICE INDICATOR

My truck has 42,881 miles on it. I mostly do city driving in it. My "Perform Service" on my EVIC came on. Does that mean I need to do the emissions system service? My owners manual ( schedule A) shows that it doesn't need to be done until 60,000 miles. Or could it mean something else that I missed?

That's the CCV (Closed Crankcase Ventilation) Filter and if you haven't done it you need too and this link will explain why. Cummins 6.7L Closed Crankcase Ventilation (CCV) Filter Change

Here's how to reset it. Dodge/Cummins 6.7L PERFORM SERVICE INDICATOR - RESET

Thank You so much for responding back Squid. Is it normal to just get the EVIC and no code? Which I never had one come up.

Darn part is on back order from Geno's! I checked w/ some local parts stores and found out that it is a Stealership part only. At Geno's it costs $70.80 w/ S&H, at the stealership they want $158 and so many cents! What a rip-off! I wonder why it's a stealership part only. I wonder how long I can drive my truck around town before I should start to worry? Should I go ahead and clear it cause I'm going to clear it again after I replace it.

The Perform Service reminder is related to the trucks emission system and relates to the CCV filter, but that isn't all it comes on for. It also comes on to indicate cleaning is needed for the EGR Cooler and EGR Valve. So the CCV filter may not be the sole culprit, although Squid is right about it needing to be changed at that mileage.

The perform service indicator on the overhead EVIC is triggered by mileage only unless followed by a specific indicator. The EVIC does not provide CCV specific warnings. As we all know it does provide indications related to DPF.

I am having the same problem with my ecic light. I just changes my ccv filter yesterday, the light went away now it is back. No codes. The egr is deleted, and I got rid of the dpf.

I buy all my truck's engine filters from Cummins. Even with a Mopar "Jobber" discount, the Cummins price is about 30% less. The Mopar filters are Cummins filters with Mopar stickers and part #s
