Default Block heater cord installation

I'm putting in the cord for the block heater. I can see the attach point on the block and can get my fingers on it but am having some trouble getting the cap off. Does it screw off or pull off. I may have to remove the oil filter.

I did take off the oil filter and also the wheel well liner. Why does such a simple thing end up being such a PITA. Getting a wrench up to turn the plastic cap was fun. I had also forgotten the joy of working on a vehicle in freezing weather. It's in and I'm set for the winter.

LOL, wait until you have to change the Fuel Filter. Glad you got it done!

I put my cord on a couple of months ago without taking anything off and it wasn't much fun but I got it. The plastic cap unscrews and the cords ring screws on after you plug it in. I dont know if your cord has a tag on it but mine had a tag stating to unplug the cord and wait at least 1 minute before starting the engine. I do wait and havent had a problem. I use it often and it makes a big difference.

The problem with mine was the the cap was on tight. I had to get a wrench on it. That required me removing the engine. Actually the oil filter and wheel well liner but certainly a pain for just putting on a cord. It's good practice for the fuel filter change. My next screw up will be a serpentine belt change.

You will appreciate the block heater as its nice to have a warm truck when its bitter cold outside. I still have the fuel filter change to do in the spring and Ill study the pics and instructions that squid posted to ease the install process. Thanks again squid for all of the info.

Not a problem. I'm doing front U-Joints right now but got stopped by a wheel hub assembly I had to order.

I'll have a nice write up soon.
