Default Anyone pull their Tranny yet?

After 120K hard miles my stock throw out bearing has started making noise and needs to be replaced. Can this be done in my driveway with a floor jack?

Thanks,
-Allen

Should be able to. Here are some transmission adapters that will sure make the Job easier especially if you're doing this by yourself. Amazon.com: Transmission Jack Adapter: Home Improvement: Reviews, Prices & more I have the shop manual if you need torque specs, etc.

Thanks Squid. Do you think that will hold both the tranny and transfer case, I'd like to pull them together.

That will not hold both. The pins and screws that hold it together are rather lite for something that is as heavy and long like our tranny/transfer setup. Also the base is standard jack is not designed for something like that. Harbor Freight sells a larger tranny lift that can handle the size. Just make sure you set the widest part of the jack is set equal the length of the tranny/transfer. Less chance of tipping and easier to work it.

Is this the jack you are referring to?

800 Lb. Capacity Transmission Jack - Transmission Jacks - Automotive & Motorcycle

Also, is this the correct bearing?

Seperate the Transfer case from transmission you will thank your self later. It is just a few bolts. Keep one thing in mind there is NO crossmenber to hold it. So when you take off the last bolt be careful. You should be able to sit under the truck and be able to pull it off the studs by hand. It is not that heavey, drain it first I know it sounds stupid to say but as I sat there with a lap full of ATF It occured to me I missed a step.
DO NOT froget to change the pilot bearing while you have it a part. I thought My throw out went bad and it was the pilot

I do agree with others, if you can separate them go for it. You can do it all as one but in a driveway with no lift and single person, you will be much happier handling smaller configurations.

Thanks for all the help.

Squid, any chance you can post up the R&R procedures for the tranny and transfer case.

Thanks,
-Allen
