Changing the air filter box and anything behind the DPF claims to not effect the warranty. Air filter is a double edge sword, you can change it and some dealers will mumble (like mine) but do nothing. However if it is found that the turbo is shot because of the the filter, you have a problem.
The changes you are talking about are the same that I have done to mine very early one (within 5000 miles of new) and at 35,000 miles, no problems to date. I am running the Banks filter setup with scoop, it moves more air than you can imagine into the intake. Other here are using other types so you will get good honest feedback of the various setups.
A properly maintained K&N will last well over 100K miles (been using K&N filters for over 25 years and very pleased). Secrete to doing it right is putting the oil into a spray bottle vs dripping it, also allow the filter to sit overnight so the excess drips out and you are all set. I suggest have an extra filter so one is already to go and the truck is not down.
