The code is P2262-turbocharger Boost Pressure Not Detected - Mechanical

Others here that got this code got a new turbo installed from the dealer. Something in the turbo itself is gummed up.

Hope that helps.

I'm on my third turbo with my 2007.5 so believe me that code normally means new turbo. Holeset has continued to upgrade their product as the latest version I am told has some more lenient clearances to help prevent the additional soot generated on the 6.7 from causing so many problems with the variable vane operation.

Thanks Morbius and Franklin. I will see what their response is and go from there. I have to say the Dodge is running good and I am getting the best mileage.
Do you know if the cleaner they use is available aftermarket and the detailed instructions on the process. I have cleaned a few jet engines in my time using gas path cleaner.

I do not know if the clean is available via 3rd party, it should be available from the dealer. The turbo cleaning attachment is available from Miller Tools and also on ebay from time to time.

When the dealer does it, they use the starscan (so I have heard) to exercise the variable vein plate back and forth. If you do it yourself, I think you would have to remove the motor / electronic control unit from the turbo exposing the 1/4 gear so you can move it back and forth yourself while running the cleaner solution.

What kind of jet engines did you work on ?

Cheers.

This link has all the info about cleaning and replacing the Turbo. Cummins 6.7L Turbocharger Cleaning

Make sure the latest Recall (J35) has been done since that flash has been known to clear all the false P2262 codes these trucks have been known to pull.

I also had been able to clear the code just by drag racing up some on ramps to build boost and get the vanes sliding thus cleaning the thing. There's a lot if info on the site about the turbo, just do a search for turbo/sliding vane along with all the other emission parts.

Let us know how it goes.

Well they are replacing the turbo. They went through all the service bulletins and checks and decided that the turbo would have to be replaced. Tomorrow they plan the reprogram the electronic and finish. I hope to have it back. Actually, the truck was running great when I dropped it off. Just had the cel.
The turbo that is on truck did not have the clean out port built-in, but from what I understand the new one will have the clean out port. The other thing is what is different with the new turbo that will stop it from doing the same thing in 40000 miles. That is why I was interested in finding out if the cleaning requires a lot of special tooling and how complex is this operation to do. Thanks for the links I will check them out and see it I can figure out the process. I will also let u all know how it runs.

Morbius I have worked TF30 GE in the F14, GE J79s in F4, P&W J57s, Lycomings, GE 700, Garret ATF3 as well as piston engines both normal aspirated and turbo charged.

Squid ,Thanks for link and I will ask them if J35 was done. I plan to do some of the mods you talk about in your post. I am waiting to get through the warranty phase.

They replaced the turbo and supposedly reprogrammed the ECU. They did not want to give up much in the way of details. I ask them if this was going to be an on going thing. I got a deer in the headlight look. I do not think they were ready for that question.
I am assuming that most of the problem is form the EGR putting soot back into the system. Therefore, the reprogramming is the fix for this.
The new turbo does have the clean out port but to clean it you need the right spray nozzle and the Mopar cleaner. The rest is easy to do.
The Truck is running good and mileage is good. The questing is how long will it stay that way?

I bet that was the J35 recall

Anyway, just don't baby the damn thing and you'll be find. I tneeds to be worked hard and idling around town isn't working. Remember that the only time the EGR is putting out soot is at low engine RPM.
