I have only had my 08 for a couple of weeks but I have had no indication of problems. I am hopeful that my first 700 miles is an indication of the next 200,000. Well...it sounds good anyway.

I just went over 13,000 miles and except for some bogus check engine lights that were fixed with reflashes on the PCM and ECM I've had no problems with the truck but I don't let her idle for long periods of time and I do a lot of highway driving. Here's the thread about how the http://cumminsownerz.com/f38/cummins...te-filter-132/ works on our trucks and one of the things that the truck needs to keep the filter clean is heat and lugging around in town isn't going to create that heat like a 20 minute drive on the highway at 70 mph. (This ain't your daddy's Cummins diesel.)

At 980 miles I have not had any problems with anything except the voltage swing which thanks to Squid I found out that it is normal? Don't drive around town much when I do it sure smells of diesel. I belive that is from the Particulate Filter. Installing rubber floor mats this week. Work just mandates it. Dag cum carpet.
35 miles to work 35 miles home Sirius radio I love it.

Wink No problem here.

I regularly drive around town making client contacts, picking up tools, etc. with quite a bit of stop and go, 2-3 cycles of a light, etc. I have had no problems with the filter. I use the idle up feature when stopped for long lights or multiple cycles of a light. I have to plod along with the rest of the traffic so I sometimes keep it in a lower gear than the tranny would normally select to keep from lugging it. No problems in 9800 miles.
Hope this helps.

Have a great weekend.

I run my programmer on extreme and haven't had any issues other than it loves to kick into regen on a regular basis now, lol...But Phoenix is a lot of freeway driving so that could help it out a lot

Exclamation Dpf

I have an 07 with the 6.7l and have had it in four times for this problem. I had trouble driving up in the mountains three times, once after pulling my trailer @ hi way speed for over 150 miles, it pulled up six miles up the gravel. It has set most of the winter and am sure nothing will change the next time I go get wood. I leave the exhaust brake on all the time plus never let it idle for more than a minute. I have not had the AX flash done as of yet. Other than this filter plugging up I love it. Only 5500 miles in just over a year.

You really need to go get all the flashes done. You'll won't know the truck afterward because she'll wake up and you won't have the clogging issue anymore. If not you will start experiencing all sorts of phantom engine check light codes to go along with the clogging DPF.

After driving my 09 6.7 for 6K and talking to Cummins and my dealers tech 4s this is what I am practicing. I try to limit using my trk for a daily driver as it is not made for that. It is made to pull and work hard. Daily soft driving will give you fits with the DPF. It is a workhorse so work it!
It is also made for people not used to driving diesels. I drove truck for years and am not new to these things. The computer in these makes it almost impossible to damage the engine by working it to hard. It will back things off so damage can't be done. I put full guages in mine but I can tell you unless you just want to see what it is doing and have a pre emp to things that might happen then they aren't needed. The computer limits the driver to keep damage from happening.
Driving with the exhaust break on is recommended by my diesel tech and others. They say it keeps the filter burned out better. Also if you notice the engine going through RE-gen they don't turn it off until it is complete.

Great advice and don't be afraid to jump on her going up an onramp since this will work the sliding vane in the Turbo and help keep it clean.
