Hello eveyone! Just registered today. Just rolled over a whopping 2,000 miles on my 08' 2500. My truck is all stock now, but changes are coming. Looking hard for product reviews and looking forward to swapping stories here. Intake and axhaust are going to be my first changes. I like Banks and AFE for the intake. I'll let you know when I decide, and the results. Have not decided on exhaust yet, looking at Banks and MRBP. Too many choices.

Wink O2 sensor experiment.

Thought this might be worth sharing.
I had my truck in for a failed O2 sensor a couple of weeks ago and when I got it back I ran my usual route home, a flat 65 mph run for about 15 miles then another 4 miles at 55 to the house. The overhead showed about 20 @ 65, zero'd it again when I turned of onto the 55 mph section and by the time I got home it was reading 23 mpg. I thought we had the mileage problem solved. No cigar, the next tank I hand calculated 16.7 average, better than it has been since I bought the truck but the next tank was back down to 14.5 combined with a high of 15.5 over the same route described above. I am starting to get a little disgusted about the whole thing and decided to pull my O2 sensors and clean them. I pulled them both and cleaned them with spray carb cleaner as they were pretty badly sooted up. I then took off down the road and put about 50 miles on it. When I left the house the annunciator was up to 19.8 mpg within 3 miles of the house. It leveled out at 20.5 for the trip, a gain of 5 mpg by cleaning the O2 sensors. I have had no messages about a re-gen or full part. filter etc. on the overhead and have about 12K on the truck.

Brilliant! Ya know it does make sense. Some of the flashes were to solve an excessive soot problem so cleaning them would be a good idea. I'm going to clean mine too and get back to you with the results..

Just ran two tanks this last week totally stock and empty and got 16.7 MPG per my math so I guess after 25,000 miles she's starting to loosen up.

Just some thoughts on variations in mpg;
Aside frrom the normal "how you drive the truck" effect on mpg...How about these;
4:10 vs 3:70 rear end gear ratio
2wd vs 4wd
automatic vs stick
blend of the diesel fuel and number of regens
full tank vs not so full tank..."not real easy to get a truly full tank"
programmers
exhaust
speedo calibration
idle time
Exhaust brake on
air filter system...and so on
I can get 19.2 mpg calculated at 60 mph but, Damn, I can't drive 60

Did a hot lap from Albquerque to Gallup last week, empty at 75mph, Hand calc at 340 miles - 20.3MPG.
The tires on the 5'er helped about 1 MPG, Switched to LT tires and scrapped the trailer tires.

I was very suprised myself and had to double check the numbers. Had to locate an airfilter yesterday. 20K and there is 1/4" of road junk on it and the filter minder showed no movement (I don't believe in them any way). Can't really afford a whole system but found a Baldwin filter in town (No one outside of Dodge has any) $60.00!! Holy c**p!
I guess that will be the next thing I will look for for an upgrade.
