Exclamation '07 Re Gen alot

My '07 is a 3500 6.7 6 speed man. utility body, at least 9k lbs. Been to 2 different dealers 3 time each for flash upgrades and inspection of exhaust filter. Nothing has changed. I drive high way and back roads no city. It has been regenerating every 200 miles for about 50-75 miles each time since the 1000mile mark. Never idle for more than 1 min. This thing won't get out of it's own way while in re gen mode, won't even think about pulling my trailer. Anyone know what to do?

Thanks for the solution, I like my warranty though. I couldn't agree more, my '97 liked the 4" turbo and straight pipe.

Just a little insight my district manager told me that him and every other dm and dodge would have to prove without a resonable doubt that the exhaust/egr delete had anything to do with with an injector going out, turbo faliure, and etc.... I have posted before the egr system on these 6.7 are the killers and the only thing the dpf delete does is let your diesel breathe thats it no harm what so ever. Plus the dpf delete is all bolt on and the egr delete 4 bolts and unplug a harness. So if something happens takes 45 min once you do it a couple times and its back to stock then if the dealer gives you grieve tell them to prove you did anything. my truck ran good all the way up to 22,000mi then turbo faliure and o2 sensors and a few more things as soon as the dealer put my new turbo and 02 sensors my truck went right across the road and got the deletes that day been trouble free for darn near 20,000mi have a buddy that did everything on his and his went 88,9?? no problems then he totaled it got tboned but there are many running fine stock but even more with a little help on the exhuast/egr. Thanks you woud be amazed

Will, how do you drive it? What's the highway speeds and what rpm are you running at that speed. Do you have gauges? How do you know it's in regen?
Have you had any dpf full messages? What diesel fuel are you using and are you any additives...Last but not least are you using the right oil?
Sorry for all the questions but we have many folks here who run with yanking off all emmissions stuff and run just fine...I'll bet we can help you

Ok, I've tried every driving style out there, but I normally drive around town in 5th gear at around 1500 rpms allowing it to rev to about 2k or so between shifts. On the highway I run along at 65 at 2200rpms. I have driven around town for a week and gone into regen at 200 miles and I have made a 5 hour round trip @70mph and went into regen 20 min. from home on the way back. I don't have any gauges or any aftermarket add-ons other than cosmetic stuff. I was told by the dealer it was in regen mode when I first took it in at 1k miles. All I know is about every 200 miles it sounds like something is blocking the intake, I can hardly hear the turbo when driving, the turbo whistles more at an idle and the engine itself is very quiet at idle. This lasts for 50-75 miles, it's a total dog to drive like this, stalls easily taking off in 2nd gear, pulling hills in a lower gear than normal, pulling my trailer is a joke. The exhaust gets super hot and fuel mileage drops 2-3 mpgs. I have not had any dpf messages or check engine lights, in fact I took the truck to the dealer when it was in this mode and they said the filter was squeaky clean. I get fuel from 3 different places (ultra low sulfur) no additives and I use Valvoline oil recommended by Cummins. I think I covered all the questions, hopefully this will help you help me. Thanks so much for your concern, Will.

Will, this really bothers me (All I know is about every 200 miles it sounds like something is blocking the intake) There is a power drop in regen but certainly not that noticeable. It sounds like there is a different problem...On your trip "2" regens is in the norm but your power drop is not. I tow a 10,000 lb 5th wheel and cannot tell regen from no regen when towing.
As far as the turbo is concerned, I can only hear mine at low rpm same as you. Your DPF being clean says that the regen is working and a blocked dpf would certainly reduce power.
I'm reading from your post that it's not the regen that bothers you but the reduced power does. Your truck should not be acting like this in regen.
The main thing that happens in regen is that there is a pulse of fuel injected at the bottom of the power stroke that makes it's way into the DPF and creates a combustion to burn up the diesel particles. There must be something else going on because what you are describing is not in the norm. Maybe you are going in the limp mode during regen for some reason...I wish I could give you more info.

Vis-a'-vis is correct. I drive over 100 miles a night and Regen at least once. When she does Regen she doesn't lose power but quite the opposite, she has more power and the exhaust brake effiency is reduced. It's possible that the increased oompf may be the Edge, Volant Intake, or both on my truck? (It's been a long time since she was stock) But I do know that a loss of power even on a stock 6.7L isn't normal so I'd take her in.

I have a 08 and have used the truck almost exclusively for towing on the highway and still it seems like I regen very often as well. No gages or anything but the fuel gage tells the story. If I am losing power I can’t tell. I can’t detect any changes in sound or towing ability, but the fuel gage drops like there is a whole in the tank. As Vis-a-vis said I too only hear the turbo at very low RPM.

Squid you say you regen every night with a 100 mile trip. How many miles do your regen’s last. It seems like mine last quite a long time, maybe 50-75 miles. Again I am trying to guess by my fuel gage.

I might add I have the AD flash. I have never seen this flash mentioned in any forum…

I have a feeling you have an early 08 and unless you live in Canada or British Columbia (They do things differently up there) you should have the AX flash which is the latest that I know of. The AX flash came out in January or Febuary of 08 and just because your truck was on the lot doesn't mean the dealership did the flash so I'd get ahold of the dealership and check. It's even possible that the G30 recall never was done which would also explain your problems Cummins 6.7L G30 Recall

My regens last 10 to 15 miles unloaded at highway speeds and if you're towing all the time you shouldn't even be going into regen since your EGT should be high enough with a load for the truck to do a passive regen. Don't forget to ask about having the fast idle enabled while they have it hooked.
