My dad was a ham; he used K0DND or Darned Near Dead. He passed in 2001. He always tried to get us boys (I had 5 brothers) interested but only one ever did get involved. It is a fun sport but does take a lot of learning. Of course, that's half the fun. I don't think it is as interesting today since most equipment is solid state; my dad's stuff was almost all tube operated. Enjoy!
