That is not true. You can flow more and achieve equal or better filtering than OEM. OEM filters just need to meet bare minimum specifications. It not in the car manufacturer's interest to produce a specification and product for highest possible air flow and highest filtration. It would bloody expensive and tap into their service market profit of replacement parts.

I have used K&N oil filters for well over 1 million miles total to date. Best performing filter (when properly handled) around. Would not go without it. I keep two, one in service, other washed/oiled ready to go for a fast change.

The are others out now that make excellent high flow high filtration filters that are either oiled (reusable) or dry (disposables). Some of which have well proven usage in the dessert's of the middle east servicing troops in very nasty conditions.
