Cummins Filtration has launched a new coolant that the company said offers solid liner pitting protection and enhanced aluminum protection without the use of nitriles, amines and phosphates found in many conventional coolant formulations. Fleetguard ES Compleat OAT (Organic Acid Technology) coolant is NAP (nitrite, amine, phosphate)-free formulation, which the company said makes it acceptable to most OEMs around the world.
Cummins Filtration said it conducted extensive testing before the new formulation was approved for the market. All tests confirmed that the NAP-free ES Compleat OAT coolant provides the anti-freeze, anti-boil, heat transfer and corrosion protection required of today’s fully formulated, heavy-duty antifreeze/coolant. The new formulation also meets ASTM and the performance specifications of most major OEMs including those for Cummins (CES 14603), Detroit Diesel, MAN, Volvo, Mack and Navistar, the company said.
With extended service intervals of 300,000 miles (500,000 km or 6000 hours), ES Compleat OAT offers freeze protection to -34 F° and provides ultimate liner pitting, corrosion, aluminum and solder protection for longer system life, Cummins Filtration said. The coolant is compatible with gaskets, elastomers and other non-metallics in the engine and is formulated for use in all diesel, gasoline and natural gas engines.
