I have installed an additional 2 micron Cummins filter so what comes from the tank is filtered down to 5, and what hits the CP3 pump is filtered down to 2. Here is the original post on the install: GDP Fuel Filter Installation

These engines usually have multiple oil and fuel filters. Dodge for what ever reason decided to deploy them with single oil and fuel filter, bad idea I think. I change the 5 micron every 10K miles and the 2 micron every 25K miles. A plugged injector or damaged CP3 pump, you are talking about $1500.00 repairs to start with and Dodge has declined some people's warranty work because of bad fuel loads.

As DWR mentioned, just not worth it for the cost of a better filter and changed ahead of schedule.

If you run lots of bio diesel (especially above 10% cummins rated level), you should run multiple water separator units of good quality. The stock unit on the 6.7 is not that good and the 6.7 is sensitive to water content.
