Impressive. Glad to hear you got some satisfaction from a manufacture. I too had a similar problem with a 5'er. I bought a 2004 Durango made by KZ. We had looked for several years to find a layout and a brand that we felt we could trust. The first few trips were uneventful with only a few minor 'birth defects'. The dealer here put half a** effort into doing a repair and it took 4 weeks. Now I had delt with this dealer for 10 years prior to us buying a unit from them (I handled all of thier chassis repair on coaches). A couple of more short trips and back it went for the same repairs again with the same results, poor quality repairs. This went on for almost 2 years (Bumper to bumper warranty was 2 years). Some times the unit was there for 4 to 6 weeks and I had to poke them hard to get it done so we could use it. Then the excusses started to come in, like 'The repair is too difficult, we are too busy, all of them do the same thing, you are too fussy. Well, enough was enough, I contacted the factory and they sent out a rep to see what I was complaining about. They found out! The dealer was not interested in doing warranty repairs!? The factory wanted to make it right and I was obligated to give them 1 more chance. They kept it for another 5 weeks and the rig was a mess, a hole was made in the rubber roof, the floor was worse than ever the tank gauges still were not with in 75% of accurate, the windows that were installed were the wrong ones the door still did not fit and the tires were still out of alignment. Lemon laws do not work here in NM, the factory bought me out of the unit and (Like dumb kids) we bought the same model from the same dealer in 2006, slightly customized of course to our spec. I am pleased to say the the new rig spent a total of 10 days in the shop on 2 occasions with the corporate and district service managers watching the repair work being done. We have had 4 years of (Knock on wood) trouble free operation of the new rig since. The dealer lost thier KZ franchise and they have been through 5 service managers and alot of techs in the last bunch of years too. We use the rig atleast 2 times every month and probably put 7 to 8,000 miles a year on it. PM me if you want to know the BIG national franchise that we used to deal with. It is not that units have problems, they all do, it is how the dealer takes care of the repairs that sets them apart from the rest. No we would not buy a rig from them again.
