P-1000 & P1001- Great Forum
First-Hello folks and thanks for a great site. I have a 07 3500 Sport 2WD. Dealer received in May 07, I purchased from him new in Aug 08. Now have 30K on it.
2 weeks ago I had the CEL and ETL lights come on. Dealer was full and it was a weekend. Found this site. Did a lot of reading. I read about the CCV filter and the fuel filter. The fuel filter was changed every 12k but I went ahead and located one and got a CCV also. Changed those and still had the fault lights.
I noticed that when starting the Trip Time, Avg. MPG, and the Fog Lamps Switch would reset. Additionally the gauges hung a null for several seconds before coming on line.
During this the voltage would cycle down heavier than it usually did. Would almost go down to 8V then cycle up past 14V displayed on gauge.
I work out of town and needed to get back to work. Truck ran o.k. except for there seemed to be a little difficulty in starting.
Set appointment with Dealer for following weekend. They had the truck for 4 days. P1000-Ign Volt High, P-1001 Ign Volt Low were the codes and reasons given by Service Mgr.
Now get this- The dealer serviced the Differential, Changed both Batteries, Serviced the Transmission, Pwr Steering Flush, and a few other items I cannot decipher.
Now this is not the Dealer I purchased from. They did great service and are a great bunch of people.
My total cost for this was: 00000.00 NADA, Nothing, Warranty.
I would have never figured batteries would fall under the warranty after a yr and half.
I love my truck and it really does not notice my 14K fifth wheel back there.
But the Dealer who services my truck is: Tomball Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge in Tomball, TX. Feels pretty good to have positive things to say.
