Default Fuel Consumption - Exhaust Brake

I have a new Edge Insight, I found it interesting that my GPH is higher and the instant MPG is lower when I run the exhaust brake... My last tank was about 14MPG (Imp Gal.) around town, and I used the exhause brake all the time. This tank I'm not going to runt the brake and see if it picks up... anyone else notice any difference in mileage?
