It can get thursty, that is for sure. I have several 'Friends' that have Power Smokes and they both pull trailers a little lighter than mine, I got 12 to 14 towing to Durango and they got less than 9. I feel better about my rig after that, not that I was remotely unhappy with it, I am not at all. I feel I still got the best rig on the market for what I do with it. Beside both of the Strokes have had HP fuel and oil pumps, fuel injectors and transmission issues within a year after purchase. I have been using teh Valvoline service centers for several years to do my oil changes and the Rotella was $89 with my filter and the Premium Blue was $99, No brainer in my eyes, the last oil sample came back with a recommendation of a 6,000 mile oil change,I have been at 5,000 for the last 3(sure beats the heck out of 2,200 from the comand center). As far as the new engine, I believe the air filtering efficiency needs to be very high, 99.8% or something on that order, I am not sure that a K&N can do that, but I will watch it pretty close and let you all know what I find. the budget is tight and $200 to $400 for a CAI with no real increase was a little pricey. The K&N in the 96 proved to be worth 35 HP (Chassis Dyno proven) and 1+ MPG, But Gassers like that sort of thing, the plug wires were worth 15 HP too. 17 to 19 on the open road isn't too bad, the wifes 3.0l V-6 ranger only get 16.
