This is an item that consumers are expected to maintain per the owners manual. Getting it too tight or not tight enough should not be an issue. It's a pretty poor design.

While I was there I asked the parts guy about the new FS2 filters, they don't have them yet at their dealership but they are on order.

As for the fuel filter and draining the water the only time you need to do that is when you get the indicator on the dash. I have never seen that in almost 70,000 miles.
