Default P042e

If anyone is wondering just how well the emissions equipment will hold up on the 6.7, I may be able to shed some light. My '07 has 82,000 miles. Last week the check engine light illuminated and I pulled the code P042E - EGR stuck open. I removed the EGR valve and cleaned it with carb cleaner. The plunger was out but it easily pushed back into place so I had my doubts that soot was the problem. I cleared the code and all was well for about 4 days. When the check engine light appeared the 2nd time, same code, I took it to the dealership. The EGR valve had an internal failure and was replaced. They also replaced the DPF due to "internal failure", replaced both O2 sensors, replaced exhaust temp. sensor, and wrapped the exhaust pipe with heat tape. Good news/bad news.......Good news - It was coverd by the 100,000 mile warranty. Bad news - if it wasn't the bill would have been $2,756. The dealership has been great about filing all repairs to date as warranty work. I don't know about the rest of you guys but I don't have $3000 to be shelling out in emissions repairs.
